The Biographical Register of English Nuns in Exile

The Who Were the Nuns? database has now been complemented by a fabulous volume: English Catholic Nuns in Exile, 1600– 1800. A Biographical Register, edited by K. S. B. Keats-Rohan, Prosopographia & Genealogica Occasional Publications volume 15, 2017. This includes 93 pages of introductory material, before providing a detailed biographical registry of all the nuns accounted for (included Mary Ward’s followers), adding extra material drawn from the painstaking study of wills and inter-family relations. The volume comes with a DVD which will reveal the vast amounts of research undertaken for that publication, and throwing light on the genealogy and prosopography of English nuns in exile.
